Welcome to Senior Woodwind Ensemble

The Senior Woodwind Ensemble is the perfect opportunity for developing and experienced flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and saxophone players to explore a wide variety of music in a smaller ensemble setting. Open to musicians of approximately Grade 4 standard and above, the ensemble helps players develop confidence, musicianship and ensemble skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

Playing in a chamber ensemble allows every musician to take an important role, improving listening skills, musical independence and expressive playing. Members perform music from a range of styles, including classical, contemporary, film music and popular arrangements. Whether you’re looking to refine your ensemble skills or broaden your musical experience, Senior Woodwind Ensemble provides an inspiring place to grow.

Continuing Your Musical Journey

Following the Senior Woodwind Ensemble rehearsal, members are encouraged to stay and rehearse with Concert Wind Band from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. This gives musicians the opportunity to enjoy both the focused experience of a smaller chamber ensemble and the excitement of performing as part of a full concert wind band in the same evening. Playing in both ensembles helps develop confidence, musical independence, listening skills and ensemble awareness while allowing members to perform a wider variety of music throughout the year.
