The Double Reed Ensemble is a specialist group for oboe and bassoon players who want to develop their skills while enjoying the distinctive sound of these unique instruments. Open to players with some previous experience, the ensemble offers a welcoming and supportive environment where musicians can build confidence, refine their technique and enjoy making music together.
Playing in a specialist ensemble gives musicians the opportunity to explore music written and arranged specifically for oboes and bassoons. Rehearsals focus on developing tone, intonation, ensemble skills and musical expression while encouraging players to perform with confidence.

Simon leads the Double Reed Ensemble with enthusiasm, expertise and a passion for double reed instruments. His rehearsals are engaging and supportive, helping every player develop confidence, musicianship and performance skills while enjoying the unique sound of the ensemble.
