Uniforms, Fees, Parents’ Waiting Area & Concert Information

Uniforms

At South Derbyshire Music Centre (SDMC), our concert uniforms help create a smart, professional appearance while giving our members a sense of pride and belonging. Wearing a consistent uniform also helps present a professional image at concerts and community performances.

Please see the guidance below for the correct uniform for each ensemble. If you’re ever unsure what your child should wear, please get in touch—we’re always happy to help.

Fees

Fees are payable at the beginning of each half term by bank transfer. Please use your child’s name as the payment reference wherever possible to help us identify your payment.

Our current weekly fees are:

  • One Tuesday ensemble: £4 per week

  • Two or more Tuesday ensembles: £6 per week

  • Friday ensembles only: £6 per week

  • Tuesday and Friday ensembles: £7 per week

The total fee for each half term is calculated according to the number of rehearsal weeks.

Shortly before the start of each half term, you will receive a fees email confirming the amount due, payment deadline and bank details. If your child joins SDMC part way through a half term, fees will be adjusted accordingly.

If you have any questions about fees or payment, or if you experience any difficulties, please contact the SDMC Coordinator. We are always happy to help.

Parents’ Waiting Area

Parents and carers are welcome to remain on site while rehearsals are taking place. The dining room is available as a waiting area where you can relax, catch up on some work or simply enjoy a quiet moment while your child is making music.

Please note that refreshments and free Wi-Fi are not available.

Children who are not taking part in a supervised SDMC activity should remain under the supervision of their parent or carer at all times.

Concerts & Tickets

Performing is an important part of the South Derbyshire Music Centre experience. Throughout the year, our choirs, bands and ensembles perform in a variety of concerts and community events, giving members the opportunity to build confidence, develop their musicianship and celebrate their achievements with family, friends and the wider community.

Many of our concerts are open to the public, and we warmly encourage family and friends to come along and support our talented young musicians.

Tickets for public performances are available through TicketSource. When tickets go on sale, details will be published on our website, social media channels and emailed to members. We recommend booking early, as some concerts are extremely popular and may sell out.
